Day 14
verse; Galatians 1:15-16
purpose; God's call for your service will becomes your everyday way of life when His Son is clearly revealed to you
What does it mean to carry your own cross? I will tell y'all my view and experience on it.
The first impression of the phrase 'carry your cross' was really negative the way I saw it. I felt the cross was and would become a burden for me.. Heavy, pain, unhappiness, captured, daily battles, suffering, bounded and.. death are the feelings that were coming up. Carrying your cross made me thought about how Jesus carried it. Full of pain, suffering and humiliated by the people. That was how my first impression was..
But what is the true meaning of 'carrying your cross'?
To carry your cross is to know why Jesus lived, died and rose up. To carry your cross is the confession of sin. To carry your cross means you'll have to live life how Jesus wants you to live. To carry your cross is everyday struggling. To carry your cross is suffering.
But I will carry it with happiness and joy. Maybe I don't know what I'm carrying at all exactly. But what I DO know, is that God won't let me carry more than I can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13). And that's all I need. He knows exactly what I can take. And I also know that Jesus carried His cross too.. for me.
So every time I'm falling, I will turn to Him and pray for perseverance. And every time I'm suffering, I will pray for courage to forgive. Every time I'm in grief or pain, I will pray for encouragement. And every time I'm struggling, I will pray for strength and build on my Lord's power and trust.
It's because.. Jesus fell but He persevered, He got hurt but He forgave, He was in pain yet He encouraged another. And Jesus struggled to the point of feeling forsaken, but He rose above his feelings and rested His trust upon the Father.
Yesterday (16th of January 2011) was the day I made a understanding with my Lord Jesus Christ. I finally know a little bit about how it feels to carry my own cross and what it takes to carry my cross.
And for what I don't know yet, I will pray for wisdom and guidance from the Lord. Cause there is a lot more meaning in 'carrying your own cross'. It takes years or maybe a life time to figure it out.
But I will learn from Him while I'm carrying it..
to do list
- be the church!
- read the bible (I'm at Acts 11)
- replace the 'media time' for time for family, friends or self discipline
- carry my cross
- maybe something else will come up in my mind to do?
Guess I'll be going,
God bless you!
And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after me,
cannot be my disciple

Media fasting #13
Day 13
verse; Isaiah 6:8
purpose; we can only hear and answer the call of God if our inner selves is tuned with the nature of God
Today in our church we had a short sermon and the testimony of Sammy C. His testimony was very intriguing. The way he spoke really filled the whole area with the power to immediately go out and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I just really want to thank the Lord for using Sammy to inspire and motivate us to move out. Now I´m really fired up! I will pray for guidance and strength for all of us to make this all possible!
In the evening I had a phone call with a brother. He had some difficulties with his church service. I really could hear him saying that he had trouble handling it. But he is the kind of person who would do it for others, even if he doesn't feel comfortable with it. More importantly he is the kind of person who WILL do it for God. Lord, bless this brother and guide him through the difficulties he is going through! Let him receive your blessings and love to encounter his daily obstacles.
One last thing for today.
Today I had an understanding with God. I don't know whether He accepted it or not, but I made the choice to create the understanding between us anyway. And I made Him a promise even though I'm not sure whether I can keep or not. But every time when I'm about to break that promise, I will pray and ask Him for guidance and wisdom to keep that promise I made to Him alive!
to do list
- be the church!
- spread His Word.
- read the bible (I'm at Acts 10)
- replace the 'media time' for time for family, friends or self discipline (training, basketball, dancing etc)
- maybe something else will come up in my mind to do?
Guess I'll be going,
God bless you!
The only weapon I will carry
and won't hesitate to use is His Word

Media fasting #12
Day 12
verse; Romans 6:4
purpose; you must be willing to accept the new-born life and let the old life die to live in peace with Christ.. the choice is up to you when you know you're ready
The verse of today (Romans 6:4) in My Utmost to His Highest (http://utmost.org/) had a message who has a lot of impression on me. In short it says: 'leave your old dead life behind and start to live your new life when you're born in Christ.'
Easily said than done.. at least for me. I'm struggling with my old life since I'm converted. It is so obvious and sometimes I still turn back to my old life. Sometimes I ask myself: 'why..' Why can't I just give it up.. or.. why don't I want to let some of those things in the old life go?
One thing is for sure: I can't do it alone. Not on my own power. I need Jesus Christ for this. I can't build on my own strength. I need a rock to build on. I need Him!
And until that day I can fully let go off my old life, I will pray for strength and guidance in my life.
During these days of media fasting I was asked a couple of times: 'why are you media fasting' or 'but you are using your Iphone and internet, is that allowed?'..
On the first question, I am media fasting for God. Some people won't understand that. Let me explain.
God is love. If I'm media fasting for God then I'm media fasting for love. I want to create love with the time I receive by not going on media stuff like Facebook, MSN Messenger, television, play station, and other social media aspects. The free time I receive by not doing those things I can put it in other more important things like socializing with family, friends and classmates. I get more time spending with them in real life than in 'digital life'. That feeling is so much realer and fresher (I really recommend these real life meetings). Love all the waaay!
On the second question (if you scroll back up) I will answer this: 'it isn't what is allowed or not.. it is what you think it will mess up your time with God and if your time is spent well or not'. Again.. God is love. If I think that some things are messing up my time.. if I think I could use my time better for something else instead of media aspects, then I will choose for the more valuable time spending with God.
Nothing is allowed or not allowed. It is not that the church gave us the assignment to do media fasting. We weren't forced to do media fasting. There is free will in it. The church came up with the idea. But it is your own choice of participating.
Again, nothing is allowed or not allowed during this fasting. It's all free will. Even God doesn't really forbid us things. I think He gives us guidelines for our lives, cause He wants the best for us. After all, God is love!
So right now I want to thank God by giving His most precious love for us: His Son Jesus Christ.
Alrighty then.. time for me to enjoy my valuable time with my friends on the basketball court.
Thank you for basketball, Lord! (=
to do list
- pray for people who are popping up in my mind
- be the church!
- spread His Word.
- read the bible (I'm at Acts 7)
- replace the 'media time' for time for family, friends or self discipline (training, basketball, dancing etc)
- maybe something else will come up in my mind to do?

God bless you!

Media fasting #11
Day 11
verse; Isaiah 6:8
purpose; God doesn't only call one of His disciples.. He shout out to all of His disciples and depending on the hearing and spiritual attitude, we respond to His calling
Like what I said in the last blogpost, I stayed at Sammy's house and we talked a lot about our lives and about the church. God, please really really bless this brother!! Sammy had a lot going on lately, but he is still determined for God. He really changed a lot. I don't think it's negative, but he has a little 'radicalness' in his now. He told me that he's afraid that his friends wouldn't be like themselves if they are with him. But I believe that God will care for them while He needs Sammy for His plan. Like God wants to tell us in Luke 23:26, there are always people who'll suffer the consequences of us obeying God. But while He is bursting His Word through and use us for His plan, our friends, family and acquaintances will be entrusted to Him. So continue your work what Jesus has given you, Sammy!
Another short message Sammy received and wanted to share with me was: don't invite to the church and wait, but BE the church!
Thank you God, for this underlying message in Matthew 28:18-20 and bless us with your guidance in this Great Commission.
Well that's it for today I think. I'm off to basketball (yeah finally friday).
to do list
- be the church!
- spread His Word!
- read the bible (After Luke I'm reading Acts now, because Luke also wrote Acts)
- replace the 'media time' for time for family, friends or self discipline (training, basketball, dancing etc)
- maybe something else will come up in my mind to do?
Guess I'll be going,
God bless you!
If the cross don't move me
then I don't wanna breath no more

Media fasting #10
Day 10
verse; Mark 4:10
purpose; teachings of God really begins when we He gets us alone through certain situations
This day went really fast. From going to school early in the morning to snowboarding and diner in the evening with friends. It was a good day for socializing!
After that I went to Smoothboy's house (Sammy Chung). We had a lot of talking about our lives and more importantly: our Lord. Sammy experienced a lot with God lately and he shared some with me. But a lot more is coming; he's going to share it Sunday in our church. So if you're interested, don't miss it out! (Sammy's blogspot is in my friends list; other than that: http://sammyfirebaws.tumblr.com/)
The talks about how to start a movement in our own environment really made me fired up!! It really made me start thinking deep about it how to handle a new project!
Thank you God, for this brother and using him to burst things through to us!

We watched Book of Eli at the end of the night.. or should we say morning =P
to do list
- planning to hang out with Father and lil sister Vionna
- spread His Word!
- read the bible (I'm at Acts 2)
- replace the 'media time' for time for family, friends or self discipline (training, basketball, dancing etc)
- maybe something else will come up in my mind to do?
Guess I'll be going,
God bless you!
ps; I lost my cross while snowboarding. Now someone will be blessed! (=
Why we ain't doing what we read
It's like we sleep
But sinners sleepwalk when they sleep
